Learning French or any other language

My wife is French and I have been learning a bit of French for the past 2 years. Mostly I have been listening to Michel Thomas (thank you) CDs in the car on the way to and fro work. However ther is no substitute for being immersed in a language, and that is what is happening at the moment as I am in France with my wife and kids, staying at her parents.

Since I have arrived here all the latent French has become activated and I am remembering all kinds of vocabulary and grammar. Having a context is really important and being here in Paris has provided me with the context.

So, if you really want to learn another language, go to the place where the country is spoken and force yourself to acquire the language.
